Questions and Responses – 01

My responses to questions from concerned parents

1) What is your relevant background to this school board position?

As a parent of Folsom High Alumni, I have researched extensively most of the relevant and contemporary issues facing our schools. I have compared our issues with those of other school boards in Greater Sacramento and surrounding areas and observed how others have dealt with them. I am good friends with many active parents whose children are currently in elementary, middle and high schools in both Folsom and Rancho Cordova. Conversations with them give me firsthand knowledge with issues. I also have conversations with teachers to gain knowledge of their perspective.

As a manager who has handled several multimillion dollar projects with several state government departments, I have first-hand knowledge and experience of the specifics of sound fiscal policies. I also have a fair understanding of how state government policies are influenced, shaped, and implemented.

I believe that the unique combination of passion for education, grassroots knowledge, and managerial and parental experience make me a candidate who can contribute a great deal to the effective functioning of the board.

2) What do you believe are/were the most critical elements to your children’s successful education?

Parental involvement, safe and conducive atmosphere at schools, wise and creative fiscal policies to create a worry-free environment for teachers and non-teaching staff.

3) What will be your top priorities in this role?

Create sound fiscal policies that cut unnecessary costs; raise standards of lower-ranking schools; engage parents to promote better involvement, and provide early health education.

It has been my pleasure to hear Mr. Kalagara speak on these issues and it is my observation that he is knowledgable, passionate, and dedicated to the important issues facing our children’s educations.

Its very gratifying to see a person getting involved in the process for the purpose of improving our community, rather than simply trying to gain higher office.

Our schoolboard is in need of new blood and Mr. Kalagara has my vote.
